Delight anyone you care about with the Fanchonnette, an irresistible French candy with almond paste, chocolate, coffee, or fruit inside. These delicious specialties from the city of Bordeaux in southwestern France are presented in a very charming collectible tin box. (14.10 oz)
In the 18th century, Françoise Chemin was a street singer known by the name of Fanchon la Vieilleuse. She became famous and her character inspired novels, light comedies, and operettas during the 19th century. She was also a source of inspiration for the demoiselles Badie, two sisters who in 1904 bought a chocolate shop that had been built in 1826 in the city of Bordeaux. They created a hard candy and gave it the name of Fanchonnettes to pay tribute to Fanchon la Vieilleuse. The shop was bought in 1942 by madame Cadiot. Today, the candy-shop Cadiot-Badie continues the tradition of making the Fanchonnettes bordelaises.
Ingredients: sugar, corn syrup, condensed milk, fruit pulp, almonds, coffee, chocolate, sorbitol, flavors, kirsch, citric acid.
